Growing Readers Harvest Festival Canucopia Saturday, October 19th 10:30 am-12:00 pm At the Pine Hills Branch (517 Western Ave. Albany, NY) For children 0-5 and their adults At the Pine Hill branch’s Harvest Festival attendees can join in the harvest spirit and bring a can of food to donate to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. Registration is not required
Collection for Food Pantry Tuesday, October 1st – Saturday, October 19th During Library Hours For all ages We are collecting household cleaning supplies for the Bethlehem Food Pantry from October 1-21. Collection receptacles will be available in the lobby. No registration required.
Special Needs Collage Craft Friday, October 18th 1:00-2:00 pm All ages. Open to everyone, but designed with developmental disabilities in mind. Join us for a relaxing collage crafternoon. Open to all & friendly to special needs. Just drop in – no registration required
Thanksgiving for All Saturday, October 19th-Tuesday, November 19th During library hours All Ages Everyone should look forward to dinnertime on Thanksgiving. This year, Cheney Library is collecting donations of non-perishable Thanksgiving foods for local families in need. All donations go to the Hoosick Falls Food Pantry. No registration is required.
GPL Pet Food Drive Saturday, October 12-Saturday, October 19 During library hours For All Ages We’re collecting dog food and cat food to donate to area animal shelters! Donations accepted include cat and dog food that is not expired, unopened, and not prescription. Collection site is in our Library lobby. No registration required.
Children’s Book & Pajama Drive Kick Off- Partnering with Nassau Resource Center
The mission of this drive is to collect pajama sets and books for local children in need. A collection box for the project will be located at the Nassau Free Library. A Pajama Storytime will kick start the collection and will help to promote the drive.
Cook for Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless Saturday, October 19th 1:00-3:00 pm For families Help prepare a meal which will be delivered to the Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless Albany Emergency Shelter. Children welcome with adult assistants. Registration not required.
The Great Give Back Day Saturday, October 19th 10:00 am-8:00 pm For ages 11 & up Volunteer your time to help the library organize items we will be collecting during October for our Food for Fines to send to the Regional Food Bank. Registration is not required
Personal Items Drive for Doors of Hope Saturday, October 19th – Saturday, October 26th 11:00 am-4:00 pm For all The library will be holding a personal hygiene items drive to benefit Doors of Hope starting Saturday, 10/19 though Saturday, 10/26. No registration required. Just bring new, unused personal hygiene items to the library and add to our collection box.
Rain or Shine Storytime Saturday, October 19th 11:00 am-12:30 pm For young children Saturday storytime for young children and their caregivers. Registration is not required but would help. Call 518-674-5050
Food Pantry Drive Tuesday, October 1st – Saturday, October 19th During Library Hours For all The Stephentown Library will be collecting items to be donated to the Stephentown Food Pantry. Registration is not required
Flag Retirement Collection Box Saturday, October 19th 9:30 am-1:00 pm For all ages The Valley Falls Free Library is collecting faded and worn American Flags that have become unserviceable to be retired with respectful and honorable rites. No registration required
Costume Swap Saturday, October 12th 11:00 am-2:00 pm For all ages All ages costume swap! Bring what you can no longer use, take what you need now. Please bring clean, gently used costumes, accessories, and even pet costumes too. We will take donations starting October 7, when the library is open. Anything left over will be donated. Costume Swap is on October 12 No registration needed. You do not need to bring a costume in order to take a costume.
Food Pantry Food Drive Tuesday, October 1st – Tuesday, December 31st During library hours For all ages Donations of food and personal items are collected year-round to support the New Scotland Community Food Pantry. Collection boxes are located behind the information desk. No registration required
Teens Care: Mutt Mats Friday, October 18th 3:00-5:00 pm For students in grades 6-12 Take the bus to the library after school and use the library sewing and craft supplies to make a mutt mat to donate to a dog at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
