Kids in Need of Diapers
October 1st – 19th
The Apalachin Library is seeking packaged disposable diapers in all sizes for local babies in need.
No registration required.
Aurora Free Library and Hazard Library Association
Give Back to King Ferry Food Pantry
October 1st – 31st
Our two libraries have an ongoing collaboration with the local food pantry. Throughout the year we offer opportunities for the community to give donations at our libraries for the food pantry. This year their targeted requests are canned cream corn, Ritz crackers, and canned mixed fruit to supplement their Thanksgiving food offerings. Donations can be dropped off either at Aurora Free Library (370 Main Street, Aurora) or at Hazard Library Association (2487 State Route 34B, Poplar Ridge).
No registration required.
Cortland County SPCA Donation Drive
October 1st – November 2nd
We will be collecting items for the Cortland County SPCA to support their Paws!
The SPCA wish list can be found on their website at https://cortlandspca.org/wish-list. Lists will also be available to pick up at the library.
Items can be brought to the library during open hours (Monday-Thursday 9:30-8; Friday 9:30-5; Saturday 9:30-3) until November 2.
No Registration Required.
Donation Drive for the SPCA
September 20th – October 18th
As a library system, we are closed to the public so we are asking staff to donate items from the Tompkins County SPCA’s “Urgently Needed Items” list. If a member of the public would like to donate, they can email jshonk@flls.org.
Lansing Library helping Lansing Food Pantry
October 7th – 19th
We will be collecting personal hygiene and feminine products for the Lansing Food Pantry.
No registration required
Please bring items to the front desk.
Ovid Edith B. Ford Memorial Library
The Great Hygiene Giveback
October 19th – 26th
We will be hosting a week long hygiene drive to benefit the YACEP Hygiene Closet that was open June 1st inside of our library.
No Registration required, any and all are welcome to help out.
SOUPer Hero
September 30th – October 30th
We will be collecting non perishable food for the Marathon Food Pantry
Registration is not required.
Please bring non expired, unperishable food to the Marathon NY Library during open hours from September 30th – October 30th.
Lend a Hand, Give a Can (or box)
October 1st – 31st
Please bring non-perishable food items that are not past the due date to stock our food pantry.
Registration is not required for this Great Give Back program.
Our food pantry is open for anybody during regular library hours and requires no registration.
Sock Drive
September 19th – October 19th
ALL AGES
Port Byron Library is collecting socks for all age groups to be donated to The Unity House and Community Action Programs Cayuga/Seneca, both in Auburn, NY. Socks are one of the most needed yet under donated items that folks facing critical hardships need.
No registration required, donations accepted during library business hours.
Personal Care Item Collection for Moravia Hope Pantry & Collection Site for Stockings for Soldiers
October 19th – December 7th
Personal Care & Household Product Collection for Moravia Hope Food Pantry: Items include soap, detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shaving products, diapers, wipes, sanitary products, shampoo.
Stockings for Soldiers for Christ United Methodist Church of Locke and Moravia: Items include puzzle books, chewing gum, hard candies, drink packets, hot cocoa packets and playing cards.
Drop items off at the Powers Library during hours of operation. Appropriate boxes will be available for each cause.
Tag-a-long Teddies
September 19th – October 19th
We are holding a collection for North Seneca Ambulance Inc, our local ambulance and EMS agency. Before Covid, they would routinely give out stuffed animals to all of their pediatric patients, making them feel safer and calmer during a potentially traumatic experience. Sadly, they have not been able to run this program in 4 years. We are asking patrons to donate NEW stuffies so we can help North Seneca Ambulance bring this program back in 2024!
Anyone can participate- no restrictions!
Costume and Winter Gear Exchange
October 14th – December 31st
We are partnering with our local PTO to provide a space where families can donate their gently used costumes (October 14 – 31) and winter gear (November – December). The area will be open any time during library hours for kids and families to donate and/or take what they need.
Kids sizes: toddler – teen
No registration required, no participation limitations. Selection will depend on what is donated.
Waterloo Library & Historical Society
Toy Donation Drive
October 1st – 19th
Waterloo Library & Historical Society will be doing a New Toy Drive from October 1 to October 19 for the Seneca County Christmas Project.
No registration required, please drop off toys to 31 E Williams St. During normal business hours. Monetary Donations also accepted.
Kids Halloween Costume Collection
October 1st – 30th
Ages 0-12
The Weedsport Free Library is partnering up with Mrs. Simon’s Kind Kids Club to collect gently used kids Halloween Costumes to redistribute them to other families in our community. Costumes will be collected at the Weedsport Free Library and the Weedsport Elementary School between Oct 1st – 19th. Costumes will then be displayed, and families can come and pick out a costume to wear for Halloween between Oct 21st – 30th at the Weedsport Free Library.
