Halloween Costume Closet 2022 Donations
September 17 – October 17
For all ages
From September 17th to October 17th, please feel free to drop off your kids’ and teens’ gently used and clean Halloween costumes that you will no longer use. We will provide these costumes free for patrons ages 0-18 on October 24th. Call the library for further details: 315-435-1940. Anyone may donate costumes.
Halloween Costume Closet 2022 Giveaway
October 24 from 4:00-7:30 pm
For patrons ages 0-18 years old
FREE new and used costumes in a range of sizes for children and teens ages 0-18. Young patron must be present to choose costume; one costume per person; first-come, first-served while costumes last. Call the library for further details: 315-435-1940.
Halloween Costume Closet 2023 Donations
November 1-30
Any time in the month of November, please feel free to drop off your kids’ and teens’ gently used and clean Halloween costumes that you will no longer use. Knitting For A Cause — Hats For The Needy
October 15 – November 30
The Marcellus Free Library will be a collection point for the Samaritan Center’s Knitting For A Cause Drive. A bin will be available in the lobby for your donations. Last year, area knitters donated 652 hats. 517 hats were delivered to the Samaritan Center; Catholic Charities received 100 kid’s hats and 35 newborn and toddler hats were delivered to Joseph’s House for Women in Syracuse. Help make Marcellus apart of the solution and start those knits!
Vera House presents: A Family Conversation About Healthy Relationships
October 13 at 4:00 pm
Hybrid (In-person & Zoom) for teens & families
Educator Nicole Blidy invites families for a conversation around abuse and healthy relationships. The discussion will highlight what is considered abuse and its root causes. She will also define red flags, green flags, and deal breakers, while teaching participants how to set boundaries. By the end of the program, the audience will know what qualities make up healthy relationships. Please register online for your spot. Zoom link will be provided for those who wish to attend virtually.

Vera House presents: Elder Abuse A Community Proplem with Systemic Solutions

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we invite you to join us in a dialogue on the difficult topic of elder abuse. An issue that often lives “under the radar” in our communities, elder abuse is a problem that impacts us all. Vera House Abuse in Later Life Prevention and Outreach Coordinator Loren Ulrich will lead a discussion of the dynamics and red flags of elder abuse, the resources available to support survivors, and the things we can all do to prevent abuse and create a community in which we can all age with dignity and justice.

This month staff from Vera House discuss signs of domestic violence and what you can do to
help. You can attend in person at Paine Branch or sign up and receive a Zoom link to attend virtually. For ages 18 and up.

Petit Branch Library
The Great Give Back for HumaneCNY
October 1-15
Petit will be collecting supplies to support HumaneCNY as they care for pets in need of homes. Please consider donating any of the following: dog toys, Clorox, dish soap, or 50 gallon trash bags. Drop any donation items in the box near the entrance of the library. We’ll collect all of the donations and bring them to HumaneCNY. The Great Give Back with CNY SPCA
September 14 – October 15
Help Salina Library give back to the community by donating new items for the CNY SPCA from 9/14 to 10/15. On Saturday, October 15th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, come to the library and meet the SPCA’s outreach dogs, learn about the shelter and adoption, and make dog and cat toys to keep or donate. Non-Perishable Food Drive for Skaneateles Food Pantry
October 1-31
Community members are encouraged to drop off donations of non-perishable food items at the Skaneateles Library for the Skaneateles Food Pantry.
B&R Bunkhouse Dog Shelter Used Bedding and Towel Drive
October 1-31
Throughout October, drop off your clean, used blankets, bedding, and towels at Soule Branch Library for the dogs at the Syracuse city shelter B&R Bunkhouse.
