Sustainable Fall Clothing Swap: A Great Give Back Event
Donation Acceptance Start Date: Saturday, October 12th, 2024
Swap Date: Saturday, October 26th, 2024, at 1 p.m.

Here’s how it works:
The goal of this swap is to provide an eco-friendlier way to “shop” outside of fast
fashion. Bring gently used, quality clothing to exchange the items you no longer wear
for new-to-you pieces that will bring new life to your cold weather wardrobe.

To participate, bring your clean, gently used clothes, accessories, and shoes to the
circulation desk on the main floor. Donations are limited to up to 10 items per
person. All items are subject to inspection – we will begin accepting items on
Saturday, October 12. On the night of the event, prepare to “shop!” No donation is
required to receive clothing at the swap, and you can donate items if you can’t or
don’t want to attend the event!

The mission of The Great Give Back is to provide a day of opportunities for the
patrons of the Public Libraries of New York State to participate in meaningful,
service-oriented experiences. We believe that this event will help to fulfill this goal
by encouraging community connection and helping to keep usable items from piling
up in a landfill! Any leftover items at the end of the swap will be donated to a charity
of our choice.

This swap is for teens and adults of all genders!
No registration is required. This is an in-person event.
We will not accept:
Spring and Summer weather clothing
T-shirts (old, frayed college tee, the random event tee, etc.)
Undergarments, socks, or swimwear
Items with rips, stains, heavy fading, or odors
Children’s clothing
Jewelry
*If the item is purposely distressed, it is permitted. Ex: jeans with distressing.
Please do not leave donations outside of the library or in Book Drop.
