We would like to encourage and invite everyone to meet us at the Ocean Road Beach where we will provide gloves, trash bags and good company as we play Beach Clean Up Bingo.\n\nAdults:\nThe Great Give Back: Art Supply Drive Monday, October 8 to Saturday, October 13\nWe will be collecting much-needed art therapy supplies to donate to domestic abuse survivors at The Retreat. A list of desired supplies available from the Reference Desk.\n\nYoung Adults:\nThe Great Give Back: Food Drive Monday, October 8 to Saturday, October 13\nAs the cold weather approaches, teens are asked to donate canned, nonperishable foods to the library. Please bring a donation item(s) to add to the bags. (1 hour service credit) *Registration is required. Hauppauge Library cardholders get first priority. Out-of-district patrons will be added to a wait-list and invited to attend if there is room.\n\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thehuntingtonlibrary.org\/\">Huntington Public Library<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\n\nDuring the month of October the library will be collecting NEW socks for people in shelters and\/or veteran homes. The socks can be for children or adults. There will be collection boxes in both of our buildings. Participants are eligible to complete a chain for our Chain of Kindness activity!\n\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.johnjermain.org\/\">John Jermain Memorial Library<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\n<div>The children\u2019s department has been collecting new school supplies since September 1, with the final day of collection planned for The Great Give Back on 10\/13. \u00a0Once they have all the supplies, they will assemble &#8220;Give Back\u201d bags and bring them to the local food pantry.Also on 10\/13 &#8220;The Wagner Dialogues: What keeps a Democracy Vibrant&#8221; a free lecture featuring two patrons who are \u201cGiving Back\u201d to the community the library serves\u2014John Avlon, CNN political analyst and former editor of the Daily Beast, and Sally Susman,\u00a0a former trustee of LOC, presidential appointee in the Clinton Administration, and National Finance Committee member for President Obama and Secretary Hillary Clinton. We will be collecting pet supplies for the Shelter, September 1 &#8211; October 13.\n\nOperation Gratitude Letter Writing Station,\n10:00 AM &#8211; 4:00 PM\nWrite a letter thanking troops, veterans, new recruits or first responders for the service to our country. The Library will mail them to Operation Gratitude for distribution. Food and supplies will also be collected for Baxter&#8217;s Pet Pantry. Volunteer activities for all ages include dog bandannas, pet toys, and crafts to be donated to local animal shelters. Donated food will be given to the Long Beach Soup Kitchen.\n\nRules &amp; Regulations:\n\n-Perishable, expired, beyond sell by date, and homemade food items will not be accepted.\n-Both current and pre-existing fines are eligible for reduction.\n-While you can donate more items than you have fines (and we hope you do), a negative fine balance cannot be established.\n-Fines can only be reduced on items belonging to the Long Beach Li-brary (and its branches).
