Tag-A-Long Teddies and Storytime with the North Seneca Ambulance. We presented the 32 donated stuffies to them at the end of the storytime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this year’s Great Giveback, the Kirkland Town Library put together 36 birthday kits, full of all the supplies a family needs to recognize a special day. The kits each contained a baking pan, cake mix, frosting, sprinkles, a can of soda (to be used instead of oil and eggs in the cake recipe), a whisk, a pot holder, plates, napkins, forks, candles, a lighter, balloons, and a birthday card. The kits will be distributed through Country Pantry, our local food bank. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Nassau Library System<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Island Park Public Library<\/strong>
A wonderful partnership between a high school aged Girl Scout Troop #2486, a local shelter for women and children, Bethany House and the Island Park Public Library. The girls created a cookbook with instructional videos for the residents of Bethany House. They also simultaneously held a home goods collection & grocery card gift card drive to benefit Bethany House. They also held a culminating event at the Island Park Library on Oct. 18th to have a taste test of the recipes featured in the cookbook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OWWL Library System<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Marion Public Library<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year the Marion Public Library collected donations of classroom supplies from our local school teachers’ wish-lists. Our teachers support the library all year, and this was a great way for the community help to give back. There are times teachers pay for extra things out-of pocket, and we hope having extra supplies and snacks on hand will make things a little better for them.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Suffolk Cooperative Library System<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Brentwood Public Library<\/strong>
We would like to celebrate the success of our Great Giveback Event at the Brentwood Public Library! With 71 enthusiastic participants, our teens accumulated 426 hours of community service. Our teen volunteers created 131 beaded bookmarks and 114 rhinestone pumpkins, which will be used for future library outreach events!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brookhaven Free Library<\/strong>
This was our fifth year working on a collaborative project. We had three projects going on: donations for Paws of War, essential items for homeless persons, and a community cleanup to clean our streets. We also collaborated with the Brookhaven Village Association, the Suffolk County Police Department, and Paws of War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Young Adult Department sponsored a drop-in community service for our local teens to decorate slap bracelets for Operation Gratitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
