Costume Swap Drop-Off<\/strong>
September 9th – October 4th
Drop off clean, gently used children\u2019s Halloween costumes at the Brighton Memorial Library Children\u2019s Center, then pick up a new-to-you Halloween costume at our Costume Swap on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6.

Appreciation Cards for First Responders<\/strong>
October 19th – 27th
Drop in and make a card to show your appreciation for First Responders! Leave it in our \u201cmailbox,\u201d and we\u2019ll deliver it to Brighton First Responders on Monday, October 28 for National First Responders Day. Supplies are available in the Children\u2019s Center, while they last.

Central Library of Rochester & Monroe County<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donation Drive<\/strong>
October 1st – 25th
The Central Library is collecting donations for the Father Tracy Advocacy Center. FTAC strives to be an advocate for the community of North Clinton Avenue. Through their work, they embody our values of dignity, respect, and love while providing much-needed assistance and advocacy for those who need it. We have partnered with them this year to extend their services to the Central Library.
We will be collecting men’s underclothes (specifically size small), men’s winter coats, and gift cards from McDonald’s, Walmart, or Uber; cash donations can be made directly to the center – https:\/\/www.paypal.com\/donate\/?hosted_button_id=Z4B7YE2LH96QU
Donations will be accepted in the Children’s Center during library operating hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Great Give Back -Toys for Tots<\/strong>
October 1st – 31st
The Marine Corps Reserve is collecting items for their annual Toys for Tots drive and you can drop off donations of NEW UNUSED TOYS at Penfield Public Library! A receptacle will be available inside the library to collect the toys. Toys for Tots aims to serve underserved children during the holiday season.
The program is open to all and no prior registration is required.
Penfield Public Library is open every day. Mon-Thurs.- 9:30 am-8:30 pm; Fri- 9:30 am- 6 pm; Sat. 10 am-5 pm; and Sun.-1-5 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MCLS staff are donating books, school supplies, and clothes to families seeking asylum and have recently relocated to Rochester. Donations of new items or gift cards can be given to any children’s librarian in Monroe County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blessing Bags<\/strong>
October 1-22
Library staff and friends are teaming up to help Cameron Ministries. Cameron Community Ministries is an Urban Outreach Community Center in the Lyell-Otis Neighborhood of Rochester, NY. We will collect travel size items that will be put into hygenie bags and distributed by Cameron.
Donations will be collected in the children’s center.
Items needed: feminine hygiene products, deodorant, soap, soap holder, wash cloth, shampoo, toothbrush & tooth paste. No mouth wash please.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smiles Across the Miles<\/strong>
October 1 – December 1
At the Children’s Center in the Central Library
For ages 3-12 years
Children and their caregivers are invited to created greeting cards for Monroe County homebound individuals.
Registration is not required. Cards can be created in the Children’s Center or sent to the library by December 1, 2021: Central Library Children’s Center; 115 South Ave, Rochester, NY 14604
We will use all types of materials to create the cards and some will have tactile materials so they can be enjoyed through touch and\/or sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food Drive to Benefit the South Wedge Food Program<\/strong>

For the Great Give Back, the Irondequoit Public Library is collecting supplies for Animal Service League. ASL helps homeless animals in our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Great Give Back Bookmark & Note Distribution<\/strong>

Grab & Go
The Mendon Public Library will participating in the Great Give Back during October, November and December. In October, we’ll be sharing bookmarks for patrons to decorate and then donate back. These bookmarks will be distributed to folks in need. In November, we’ll be sharing card making supplies to thank our Veterans. Patrons can decorate cards and we’ll destribute to Veterans. In December, we’ll be sharing card making supplies for Shut Ins. Patrons can decorate a holiday card and we’ll distribute locally.
No registration necessary. Supplies will be available during library open hours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making Cards for Veterans<\/strong>

Stop by the Children’s Room to create handmade cards to be distributed to local Veterans here in the Brockport community through the Brockport Veteran’s Club. No registration is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Red Cross Blood Drive at Seymour Library<\/strong>

Coat Drive for Matt’s Coats for Kids<\/strong>
October 18-November 19
Matthew J. Fitton lost his life in a tragic car accident at the age of 20 in August 2003. A young athlete who towered over us at 6 foot 6, his giant came not from his height, but from the size of his heart. Matt was always ready with a smile or a hug to share, and a willingness to help those in need. That’s why we know Matt would be happy that his memory is being kept alive through “”Matt’s Coats for Kids””.
Please help us keep Matt’s memory with us by dropping off your gently used or new items of winter outerwear and help keep our local kids warm this year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
