Canastota Library<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baby Hats for Oneida Health Hospital<\/strong>
October 5th – 31st
Throughout the month of October, knitters and crocheters at Canastota Public Library will
make and donate baby hats for Oneida Health Hospital to use in their maternity ward. Last
year, the hospital needed over 600 hats! We’ll have a special program at 9:30am on
Saturday, October 5 encouraging all skill levels to make as many hats as they can. During
this special program, experienced knitters and crocheters will be on hand to help beginners
learn and hone their skills. All hats will be donated to Oneida Health Hospital at the end of
the month.
Registration is not required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Didymus Thomas Memorial Library<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warm Up Remsen Winter Coat Drive<\/strong>
October 7th – November 8th
As part of the Great Give Back Program, the Didymus Thomas Library is proud to be holding a \u201cWarm Up Remsen Winter Coat Drive.\u201d This is a great way to get involved and help give back to your community to help those in need stay warm this winter. From October 7 through October 31, the Didymus Thomas Library will be collecting gently used coats, plus hats, scarves, and gloves, in all sizes for men, women, and children to benefit families in and around the Remsen area. Donations can be dropped off at the library starting October 7 during open hours; which are Monday 1-5; Tuesday 2-6; Wednesday 2-5; Thursday 2-7; Friday 2-5 and Saturday 10-12. The coats that have been collected will be ready for distribution to anyone in need from November 4 to November 15 at the library.

Dunham Public Library<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Catholic Charities Christmas Campaign 2024<\/strong>
November 18th – December 11th
Catholic Charities brings a Christmas tree to each business that participates in the program. Catholic Charities then places paper tags on the Christmas tree. The tags have gift wishes from children and families on it. Patrons choose tags, purchase items on the tags, and return the items to the place where they got the tag.
No registration needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Erwin Library and Institute<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diaper and Wipes Drive for our local Willow Network<\/strong>
October 1st – 31st
Starting October 1st, Erwin Library will be collecting donations for our local organization, Willow Network. This wonderful group supports pregnant women in need of love and community assistance.
We will be collecting diapers, wipes, and formula. While Willow Network welcomes all donations, they have specific needs due to allergies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Frankfort Free Library will be collecting items on the Wish List for the local Runaway & Homeless Youth Program during the month of October.

Hamilton Public Library<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Great Hamilton Give Back<\/strong>
October 1st – 19th
The Hamilton Public Library will be collecting pantry items, pet items, and physical monetary donations to give to the Hamilton Food Cupboard from October 1st to October 19th. We will have a box and envelope for donations that will be available during library hours, and an extra box at our tent at the Hamilton Fall Family Festival on the Village Green to collect donations on October 19th, from 8 am to 1 pm.

The pantry is requesting canned yams, canned vegetables, gravy, cranberry sauce, canned fruit, boxed mashed potatoes, and stuffing. Financial donations are also appreciated and will be used to purchase eggs, bread, and cheese. (Please mark your check as a donation for holiday food.) Donations can be brought to the Kirkland Town Library anytime.

The Giving Fence<\/strong>

Every year, we help our neighbors in need by accepting donations of new or gently used hats, scarves, mittens, gloves and socks. We’ve received donations from individuals and from groups. These items are hung on the fence outside the library. Anyone is free to take what they need. The program goes on all through the winter months, helping to keep our community warm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Halloween Crafts and Costume Center<\/strong>

Visit the library for free Halloween crafts and costumes. Gently used costumes may be exchanged or donated. Dress up your favorite stuffed animal for Halloween and walk the cat walk to show off your animal’s costume at 11 am, Saturday, October 29th. Patrons may donate pet supplies for Wayward Paws animal rescue.

Prospect Free Library is collecting pet food and treats for cats and dogs. Items will be donated to Sarah’s Pet pantry, which is part of Foothills Rural Community Ministry in Holland Patent, NY. Monetary donations for Sarah’s Pet Pantry to purchase pet food are also accepted. Donation bins for items are located at Prospect Free Library, 116 Upper State Street, Prospect and at Prospect Post Office, 209 Church Street, Prospect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’re asking community members to donate items to help the Humane Society of Rome care for the animals housed in their shelter. The Great Giveback<\/strong>

New Hartford Public Library is proud to be participating in the Great Giveback. The Great Giveback is a way to provide a day of opportunity (but in our case a month!) for patrons of public libraries to give back to their communities. We will be collecting canned goods for the Seeds of Hope Food Pantry located at First Presbyterian Church in Utica. Donations can be dropped off and placed in the collection box just inside the lower level entrance doors starting October 1st and ending October 30th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Morrow Warming Center Donation Drive<\/strong>

The Library will be accepting donations for The Morrow Warming Center- a low- barrier shelter in our neighborhood.
The Warming Center is requesting the following items: blankets, socks, underwear, warm mittens, small shampoos, body wash, deodorant, razors, shaving cream, hairbrushes, combs, and washcloths.
Smaller\/travel-size hygiene items are preferred. New items only please, with the exception of gently used blankets and mittens.
Donations will be accepted in the main lobby of The Library between 10am-2pm starting Monday, October 4th, through Friday, October 22nd.

This organization provides care, medical attention, and love, for dogs in need while working to place them in their forever homes.
